May 13th, 2002 - Austin, TX - SubstanceTV, Inc, publishers of the acclaimed SubstanceTV DVD Videomagazine, announced today the assemblage of a powerhouse sponsorship team, set to bring the award winning Promised Lot back to Los Angeles's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), May 22nd - 24th. Launched last August by the founders and management of GodGames, SubstanceTV DVD issues consistently feature videogame content, along with award-winning short films, rare music videos, animation showcases, and compelling documentaries.
Located at the familiar corner of Pico & Figueroa, directly across the street from the LA Convention Center, the Promised Lot will open at 12-Noon daily, with live entertainment, bar, gaming tournaments and technology showcases running until 7pm.
AMD, Best Buy, Matrox, GameSpy, Alienware, Obscura Digital, and BAWLS Guarana have joined forces to resurrect the Lot.
"After getting countless calls and emails from industry friends and strangers alike, we decided to take a shot at pulling it off one more time. And thanks to our wonderful sponsors, we were able to pull together another production to be proud of," said Mike Wilson, Publisher and CEO of SubstanceTV. "The SubstanceTV crew can't wait to show our industry friends what we've been up to and to demonstrate our incredible DVD product for the E3 attendees."
SubstanceTV and Matrox's latest offerings will be showcased in a 44' Geodesic dome, provided by Obscura Digital. The Dome will act at the 'centerpiece' of this year's Promised Lot, as well as the location of the "Summer Substance" public all-night after-party on Friday, May 24th. Jeff "Smitty" Smith, SubstanceTV VP of PR and Marketing, commented, "We like to think of the 'dome' as this year's big ole Easter Egg for the Lot's resurrection." The air-conditioned dome features fully-projectable walls, a video 'chandelier' of 7 motion projectors, and a state of the art surround sound system.
AMD will be showcasing their hottest wares in their private RV, while GameSpy and Alienware will be running an awesome LAN gaming tournament inside the dome, details of which will be announced on May 14th.
