SubstanceTV Issue 02.2 Ships Single Copies and Subscriptions of Pioneering DVD Videomagazine Available Online Now  <back

March 28, 2002, Austin/Dallas, TX - SubstanceTV, Inc., today announced Issue 02.2 of the SubstanceTV DVD Videomagazine series has shipped. Exploring modern-culture in Music, Film, People, Truth and Play through exclusive video footage, interviews, independent short films and documentaries, SubstanceTV has garnered praise from consumers and artists alike. Each issue of SubstanceTV combines original productions and various submitted works.

Issue 02.2 highlights include:

'N'Dambi: Soulful Sounds and Quiet Wisdom'
Through childhood influences rooted in gospel and country music, to a stint as a backup singer for Erykah Badu, N'Dambi has developed a voice of her own and is forging an independent and creative path through the music industry. SubstanceTV presents exclusive interview footage and sneak peeks into two music videos from this rising diva.

'Filmmaker Showcase: Daniel DeLoach'
SubstanceTV showcases three distinctly compelling short films from award-winning writer and director Daniel DeLoach. New Clear Farm recounts the discovery of a nuclear bomb by two hapless Texas farmers and the tragically funny consequences. In the highly experimental Tryptych, DeLoach cinematically explores the poetry of Olga Lavrova and Sadistkye Kupleti through three disturbing vignettes. Rounding out the selection is Tour Guide: Vietnam, a documentary photo-essay that reveals the lingering effects of one of history's most controversial conflicts. All films include a Director's Commentary audio feature.

'Pleasure Club, Featuring James Hall'
After more than a decade of twists and turns through the music industry, James Hall has re-emerged with The Pleasure Club, a band of handpicked musicians that will take the singer / songwriter into new territory. SubstanceTV goes backstage to talk to The Pleasure Club about their lives and art, and share exclusive live footage from their current tour.

'The Art of Post-Modern Protest'
For the first time since the September 11 terrorist attacks, anti-globalization demonstrators took to U.S. streets in protest of the World Economic Forum in New York City. SubstanceTV was there and captured the passion and chaos of activism in 21st Century America.

'Tim Sanders: "Know More, Mr. Nice Guy"
Get up close and personal with Tim Sanders, Chief Solutions Officer for Yahoo! and author of the strangely controversial new book Love is the Killer App. SubstanceTV joined Tim at one of the many stops on his 2002 "Winter of Love Tour" and had a peek inside the head of this enigmatic new-age business and networking Guru, both during his presentation and in more informal interactions with interested friends and strangers.

'Mime on a Mission'
Recently arrived in Atlanta from France, Maurice is determined to revitalize the miming scene in Georgia, breaking all the rules and pissing off a whole bunch of people in the process. Join Maurice and his crew as they bring their unappreciated brand of expression to urban America.

Dubbed a "punk-rock PBS", SubstanceTV is committed to gathering, producing, and delivering high-quality video content that transcends the sound-bite mentality of mass media to explore the richness and diversity of the world around us.

"Not a day goes by that we're not introduced to a new artist, idea or personality through the feedback of one of our viewers," says William Haskins, SubstanceTV Editor-in-Chief, "This, more than anything is the process we want to nurture".

Subscriptions to SubstanceTV are $29.95(US) for 10-issues and can be purchased on the company's web site, http://www.substance.tv Individual issues can be purchased at GameStop retail locations nationwide or at DVDEmpire.com, Amazon.com, Facets.org or rented through RedOctane.com.
