What information does SubstanceTV collect on the Site?
IP Address - An IP Address (short for Internet Protocol address) is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet provider whenever you are surfing the Web. When you request pages from the Site, our servers log your IP Address. SubstanceTV collects IP Addresses for the purposes of internal system administration, to help diagnose problems with our server, and to report aggregate information to our advertisers. Your IP Address is also used to gather broad demographic information, such as country of origin and Internet Service Provider (i.e., AOL, AT&T @home, etc.). Our server may also record the page that linked you to us (e.g., a search engine). SubstanceTV uses this information only in aggregate and non-personally-identifiable form and solely for the purposes of internal review. Our server cannot automatically record your name or address.

Cookies - Our Site also uses “cookies,” or text files sent from our server to your computer's hard drive, for record keeping purposes and to understand our audience. Cookies make using our Site easier by, among other things, saving your preferences for subsequent visits. The cookie transmits this information back to our Site's computer, which, is the only computer that will read it. These cookies are restricted for use only on our Site, and do not transfer any personal information to any other party. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies; however, you can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or indicate when a cookie is being sent. (Note: you will need to consult the help area of your browser application for instructions.) If you choose to disable your cookies setting or refuse to accept a cookie, some parts of the Site may not function properly or may be considerably slower. For example, without cookies, you will not be able to set personalized preferences or you may have difficulty entering contests.

Personal Information - Our Site gives you the option to provide us with some of your personal information such as your name, e-mail address, street address, and telephone number. SubstanceTV will use this information solely for the purpose for which such information was provided, i.e. entry in a contest or registration with the Site. SubstanceTV may also use this information to present you with news and information regarding SubstanceTV's products and services.

To place an order/subscription request with SubstanceTV, we require certain payment information, such as your credit card number. We use this information to confirm your order before shipping. This information is shared with a third party transaction clearing service and our other commerce partners in order to ship and bill you for the subscription(s) or products you order.

We may also request that you provide us with certain demographic information (such as age, gender, preferences, etc.) so that we can personalize your experience at our Site. We do this to show you content that we think might interest you, according to your stated preferences. You will always have the option not to provide such information, though we will not be able to customize content for you without your input.

We may also disclose individual customer information if required to do so by law, for example, pursuant to a court order.

In addition, SubstanceTV may disclose user information when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who causes (or we believe may cause) injury to or interference (either intentionally or unintentionally) with SubstanceTV's rights or property, other visitors, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities.

Agents and contractors of SubstanceTV who have access to personally identifiable information are required to protect this information in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy by, for example, not using the information for any purpose other than to carry out the services they are performing for SubstanceTV.
