Jeff
Smith - Vice President of PR and Marketing
Jeff Smith, 29, is SubstanceTV's Vice President of PR and Marketing, and is responsible for developing and managing Marketing and PR campaigns for the company and its DVD publication.
Most recently Director of Public Relations for computer and video game publisher Gathering of Developers (GodGames), Jeff managed innovative PR campaigns for a diverse line-up of PC, Mac and console games, ranging from 3D action shooters and strategy games to flight simulators and role-playing games. He also coordinated international PR for the Gathering's games with foreign distribution partners.
Prior to joining the Gathering in early 2000, Jeff oversaw public relations, marketing, and licensing for Lewisville, TX-based game developer Terminal Reality, where he created cutting-edge PR campaigns for such hit titles as Microsoft CART Precision Racing and Microsoft Monster Truck Madness 2. He also directed license contract negotiations and cross-marketing opportunities with Cessna Aircraft Company, The New Piper Aircraft Company, Raytheon Aircraft and Allied Signal/Bendix King for the company's FLY! flight simulator.
Jeff has been a featured speaker at industry tradeshows, including E3 and the Game Developers Conference, and was recently recognized by the International Who's Who Among Professionals.
Before entering the games industry, Jeff served as Public Relations Director for The Worx Co. (formerly Cyber-Worx), one of the Southwest's largest Web development companies.
Jeff's professional experience also extends into TV, radio, and concert promotion. He served on the lead promotions team for Ice Cube's Lethal Injection tour and, as owner of Smitty's Junebug, arranged large outdoor festivals and concerts. He also hosted a weekly radio show and worked as a TV and radio spokesperson for several businesses.
During his tenure as Feed the Children's International Spokesperson for the interactive entertainment industry, Jeff coordinated donations resulting in the delivery of 300,000 pounds of food to food-banks worldwide. He was also a volunteer for the Special Olympics between 1990 and 1998.
Jeff studied broadcast journalism, public relations, and theatre at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He currently lives in Garland TX with his wife Jessica.
